Celebrate World Card Making Day with Embroidery! 🎨🧡

Let’s make some cards together!

Hi, Reader,

Happy World Card Making Day!

πŸ“…πŸ–ŒοΈ Did you know that October 4th is a special day dedicated to the art of card making? This is the perfect opportunity to combine two cool crafts – embroidery and card making – to create something extraordinary and heartfelt.

✨ Embroidered Card Tutorials to Inspire You

Whether you're a seasoned embroiderer or a beginner looking for a fun project, here are some of my favorite card-making tutorials I've shared on the blog. They're easy to follow and cater for various occasions:

πŸ›’ My Top Picks: Blank Cards for Your Projects

If you're ready to start your card-making journey, here are a few recommendations for blank cards as a foundation to help you get started:

  • Plain White Cardstock cards are a classic choice for any embroidered design. The sturdy texture holds up well to stitching.
  • Kraft Paper Cards. These eco-friendly cards offer a rustic, handmade look that pairs beautifully with bright-colored embroidery.
  • Colored Card Sets – For a pop of color, try using colored blank cards as your base. These are great for adding contrast to your embroidery threads!

You can find these at your local craft store or order them online. I've had great results with fold aperture cards and square blank cards with envelopes that I got from Etsy. I also used white square greeting cards from Amazon.

πŸ’Œ Why Embroidered Cards Are So Special

Embroidered cards are more than beautiful art pieces; they're also a unique way to express creativity and thoughtfulness. When you stitch a card, you're creating a keepsake that the recipient will cherish for years to come.

Whether you're making a card for a birthday, holiday, thank-you note, or to say "I'm thinking of you," adding a bit of embroidery makes it extra special.

I'm an expat who has lived far away from my family for many years. Every autumn, I design and hand-embroider Christmas greeting cards for my parents, sister, and some close friends, write a season greeting, and mail them. I know that these simple postcards are very cherished and appreciated.

Hand embroidered Christmas ornaments Hi, Reader, I like to make my Christmas ornaments by hand. I embroider and sew them, make decorations from acorns and pinecones, make little mushrooms from cork, crochet snowflakes, or make origami decor. This year, I plan on making some himmeli ornaments from natural straw. About Advent Calendars Hi, Reader, How are you doing? It’s wild how all the content on social media transforms from spooky to jolly overnight! πŸŽƒ -> πŸŽ…I need more time to adapt to this change! Too early? It happens every year right after Halloween, but I'm never ready! One of my ways to get into the Christmas mood is by making an Advent calendar for my daughter. This tradition began years ago when she was three or four. I sewed linen bags and hand-embroidered the numbers from 1 to 24. We both...
